Br. Camillus Chavez Collection Ribbon Cutting - Wednesday, November 1
1:30 p.m. Library, second floor
The library has a new special collection! Come for the ribbon cutting for the Brother Camillus Chavez Collection on November 1st at 1:30pm on the 2nd floor of the SMC library. This collection is named in honor of Brother Camillus, who was a key presence on the campus and shaped and influenced the lives of many generations of students at SMC. Br. Camillus led meditation sessions, taught courses in Psychology, and advocated for students of color. The collection consists of Spanish-language materials including popular novels, children’s books, books by undocumented populations and non-fiction that is emblematic of the diverse experience of Latin American and U.S. Latino communities. This collection is an initiative by the Institute for Latino and Latin American Studies (ILaLS), with additional support from SMC Mission and MInistry and the Department of Psychology.

We have a special Crafternoon planned for this coming Monday, 10/23, in collaboration with the Mission & Ministry Center - Our Lady of Guadalupe program. Join us in the Library Learning Lab on the first floor between 3-4:30 (an extra half hour!) to do crafting in preparation for Dia de los Muertos.
On Monday, October 9, we'll have a special treat: a collaborative event with the SMC KPop Club! Last semester the KPop + Crafternoon collab was our biggest turnout yet, so let's make it even bigger this time!
This is a collaboration with Kindra Stewart, Veterans Support Services. We'll supply all the paper and decorating supplies your hearts desire!
All SMC students, faculty, and staff are welcome. Free, wheelchair accessible, and open to all.
