Optional: Saving, Organizing, and Citing Sources with Zotero

Everybody's got their own way of saving, organizing, and citing their sources. And if you have a method that's working for you, great! But if you don't, there are apps called research managers that can help you out. One of our favorites is Zotero--and it's free (up to a certain storage limit).

If you want to try it out:

  1. Go to Zotero.org
  2. Download Zotero for desktop
  3. Download Zotero connector for your browser
  4. Create a login to start syncing
  5. Start saving your sources from the icon in your browser!
  6. Ask a librarian if you need help. (Not all SMC librarians are equally familiar with Zotero, but they can get you to someone who is)
