Anthropology 101

Searching using AnthroSource

If you are not finding something interesting browsing through the journals and you have an idea of a topic you're interested in, you can search the AnthroSource database

Tips

  • Keep your search broad. Use basic terms like sports, gender, or health to start and only add more if you are getting too many results.
  • Beware of book reviews! Short articles under three pages are most likely book reviews, not research articles.
  • Do not use articles from Anthropology News. This is a professional newsletter. It's a great resource, but it does not publish research articles.
  • AnthroSource does NOT represent all Anthropology journals. These are the journals published by the American Anthropological Association (AAA). Although they are an important group in the field and these are all solid Anthropology journals, the AAA isn't the only publisher and if you continue in your studies in Anthropology, you'll want to be sure your consider research published elsewhere.
