Generative AI (GenAI) is a subset of artificial intelligence that creates new data, such as text, images, audio, video, and code, based on what it has learned from existing data through its training and in response to prompts (inquiries).
GenAIs use Natural Language Processing (NLP), the field of AI where computer science meets linguistics to allow computers to understand and process human language.

Keep these goals in mind:
- Think about AI in the way you might think about going to the gym. Coaching is great, but you need to do the work yourself. Research is a gym for your mind.
- Remember the benefits of doing the work yourself:
- A sense of accomplishment and competence gained through the process.
- Developing your ability to explore and analyze a subject.
- Research builds upon itself and develops your own critical communication skills.
- Effective and clear communication is important in any industry.
- Follow your course guidelines: When permitted by your instructors, use these AI programs as an aide to research, thinking, and organization.
