Streaming Videos Available Through SMC Library

Learn about the Library's streaming videos and considerations when using videos in your teaching.

What if the Library doesn't have the video I need?

If you are looking for a specific video and you can't find it in the catalog or in Kanopy, send us a chat using the "Ask a Librarian" box on the left, or contact your subject librarian, for assistance with the following:

  • Ask a librarian to double-check that we don't have the film.
  • Borrow the film on DVD from another library through resource sharing.
  • Faculty can find the film's distributor and contact them about whether they provide educator access. They may be willing to send you a free, limited-time streaming link. Your subject librarian can help you track down this contact information.
  • Ask your subject librarian if the library can acquire streaming rights for the SMC community. Please allow several weeks for this process.
  • Ask your subject librarian for assistance finding a video on a similar subject.
  • See if the video is available for streaming via Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, Prime, etc. A librarian can help with this if you're not sure how to check. Please consider licensing restrictions and costs when assigning a subscription product to your students.
