Remote Library Resources for SMC

Accessing the library from off campus

When you are off-campus, the SMC library databases and the Library Search box does not know that you are an SMC student unless you sign in using your SMC ID and password. Once you log in, you can access all the materials that you would from on campus. 

To log into Library Search, search for your topic of interest, then click on the yellow banner at the top of the page to be taken to an SMC log in page

To log into the Databases, select the database you would like to use from the A-Z Databases list and you will be automatically prompted to enter your SMC ID and password.

Librarians are Available for Research Help!

If you have any research questions or concerns about how to access materials when you are off-campus, please reach out to a librarian in any of the following ways: 

  • Chat With a Librarian: On the right-hand side of the page, under Contact Us/Get Help (you can also use the chat box below)
  • Call Us at 925-631-4624

  • Text Us at 925-291-9699
  • Make an Appointment with a specific librarian and let them know that you would like to meet via online video conference. The librarian will handle the conference, all you need is a computer with a microphone! 
SMC Librarians will answer your chats, calls, and texts as soon as possible, and emails will be answered within 24 hours!

  • Research Guides: Pick the research guide that fits your course and see what resources your librarian has highlighted.
  • Library Research Tutorials: videos that provide in-depth explanations on a variety of research tips and tricks.
  • FAQs: Browse or search the Frequently Asked Questions to see what students are asking and what answers they are getting!
