Remote Library Resources for SMC

Overview

The Library offers expert help and many services that you can access remotely:

Online resources

If you are not on campus, you will need to log in when accessing the online databases.

If a desired resource is not available as a full-text version online, submit an interlibrary loan request.

Online research help

If you have questions about using our online resources, just ask! You can email or chat with a librarian! The chat service is staffed by SMC librarians while the reference desk is open.

Research appointments with a librarian

Subject librarians with expertise in specific areas are available to SMC students and instructors for one-on-one consultations online. Once you identify a librarian, you can schedule an online consultation with them via the appointment link or an email.

Instruction

Instructors can arrange for a librarian to provide remote instruction for their courses. Contact your subject librarian.

Renewing materials

You can renew many library materials online by signing into your Library Search account. You will see a list of items you have checked out and any options for renewing.

Returning materials

Books and interlibrary loan materials may be returned to the SMC book return, located by the entrance to the Library and the Library parking lot. If the Library is closed when you return items, they will be backdated when we open again.  Want to mail items because you are no longer local?  Here is how!
